In addition to our programme of concerts and shows, various organisations host a series of talks, lectures or taster sessions that are open to the public.
This is the place to find out what’s happening and when:
The Workers' Education Association
The Workers’ Educational Association - also known as the WEA - is the UK’s largest voluntary-sector provider of adult education.
It was founded in 1903, in order to support the educational needs of working men and women who could not afford to access further or higher education. Today the WEA provides courses for all kinds of adults and maintains its special mission to provide educational opportunities to adults facing social and economic disadvantage.
Nationwide, the WEA runs over 10,000 part-time adult education courses each year and they are one of the UK’s biggest charities, operating at local, regional and national levels through their regional offices and volunteer-led branches.
The Grimsby branch of the WEA operates from the Central Hall and for details of their current programme of courses, please click here to view their latest brochure (new window opens, select "South East Area Brochure"). A synopsis of the winter/spring 2014 courses is provided below.
For more information, please contact their local volunteer branch secretary Linda Salkeld by calling 01472 329200 or email: [email protected]. Copies of the aforemention brochure can be obtained from Linda, all local libraries and the Central Hall.
