NICOLA FARNON TRIO 2018

NICOLA FARNON - Double Bassist and Vocalist. Widely recognised as one of the classiest Jazz and Swing musicians in the UK, Wiltshire born and now Sheffield resident, Nicola has a remarkable musical pedigree, both parents being professional classical musicians and her great uncle no less than the late Robert Farnon. After an early start on piano and cello (grade 8 in both by the age of eleven), she followed her dad's love of the 'standards' into jazz via the double bass and an enchanting voice which was developed during her Performing Arts studies at Middlesex University. Her sparkling trio and quartet appears regularly on the jazz cicuit and the band's arrangements are all done by her - with some melodic and extremely catchy originals thrown in for good measure.

PIERO TUCCI - Piano, Tenor and Alto Sax and Accordion. Canadian born Piero is a phenomenally gifted musician who emigrated to England in 2003 after many years on the Toronto music scene. Equally at home on the piono and saxophone his prodigious talent has seen him tour the world and play with a diverse range of musicians that include Jim Mullen, Alan Barnes, Enrico Tomasso, and Roy Williams. Piero has supported many legends from James Brown to Cleo Laine and Jonny Dankworth, Courtney Pine, Acker Bilk and Humphery Littleton.

PHIL JOHNSON - Drums. Phil started his career as a drummer with the Wigan Youth Orchestra. He has backed many jazz artists including Bobby Shaw, Alan Barnes, Don Lusher and Kenny Baker. Phil plays regularly with the Squadronaires, The Memphis Bell Swing Orchestra and has recently completed a national tour with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra UK.
