Grimsby Philharmonic Society presents W.A.Mozart REQUIEM

Conductor: Susan Hollingsworth

This will be an evening of music by many music lover's favourite composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart! We are joined by the Grimsby Philharmonic Orchestra who will be playing the well known string piece, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, as well as accompanying the choir in some Mozart anthems and Mozart's famous Requiem. This work is thought to have been commissioned by Count Franz von Walsegg for a service to commemorate the anniversary of his wife's death on December 5th 1791: using the incomplete autograph manuscript and detailed drafts of various movements the work was completed by Franz Xaver Sussmayr in 1792 and delivered to the Count in time for the anniversary event.

For this performance we are welcoming back Elizabeth Adams (Soprano), a local girl who was a chorister at Waltham All Saints and later graduated from aPost Graduate Studies course at Birmingham Conservatoire. We also welcome back Timothy Emberson (Bass) who also studied at Birmingham Conservatoire who recently married Elizabeth. The mezzo soprano is Clare Filer and the tenor is Aaron Godfrey-Mayes. The whole evening will be conducted by our very own Susan Hollingworth, an internationally renowned choral trainer, who was recently awarded the BEM in the Birthday Hounours 2019.
